November News 🦃
Lots going on in research for me. Read on for upcoming talks, updates on my book, and research highlights from me blog.
Past & Upcoming Talks
I’m honored to be presenting at Alberto Cairo’s VizUM2024 on Monday. Over the summer I enjoyed taking my approach to creative data storytelling to a few different venues and audiences for feedback: questioning our data cultures at the Information is Beautiful Awards, talking creative data representation for social justice movements at csv,conf,v8, and discussing data beyond the screen on Jon Schwabish’s PolicyViz podcast.
Book Release: Scheduled for Nov 29th
Excited to share that “Community Data” is scheduled to come out at the end of the month. I just launched communitydatabook.com to showcase some more about the book. Check it out and do spread the word.
New Academic Work on the Blog
In order to fight against the slowness of academic timelines, I try to work “out load” by posting frequently on my academic blog. Read highlights from hosting C+J 2024, or short summaries of pre-prints on author extraction software and using generative AI for source audits.
Thanks for reading 🙏🏽
